Book evaluation #6

One major event in the book was when Cherie went to a teen club and was picked out based on her looks and personality to be in a band that Joan Jett was trying to form with her manager Kim Fowley. This was the start of the band Joan liked the look of Cherie and felt she would be a great asset to the band as lead singer. Another major event was when the band broke up because everyone was beginning to get jealous of all the spotlight being on Cherie. Lastly when Cherie was out of the band and living life on her own she struggled with drugs and tried to steal her fathers money to pay for her addictions.

Book evaluation #5

The element most important in this story is the events. This is due to the fact that so many crazy things happened in this story from Cherie being raped, her parents divorcing, touring with The Runaways, The band breaking up, and so much more. This book is based on a series of changing events at such a fast pace. The story is portrayed around one teenage girl who had a rough life to begin with that ended up in this wild rock star lifestyle that turned her life from bad to worse. Especially from the many predicaments drugs get's Cherie into, for example she was addicted taking Quaaludes and then eventually cocaine which brought her to rock bottom. This book never had a dull moment because of all the changing events.

Book evaluation #4

This book had a tone of despair throughout the majority of the story. This quote about Cherie's drug addiction proves her extreme issues with her life.“Even when I took the drugs I realized that this just wasn't fun anymore. The drugs had become a part of my routine. Something to wake me up. Something to help me sleep. Something to calm my nerves. There was a time when I was able to wake up, go to sleep, and have fun without a pill or a line to help me function. These days it felt like I might have a nervous breakdown if I didn't have them.” This was important to her story because it described just how serious her problem was. Another quote that showed the despair was this one."Sometimes I felt that there were too many painful things in this world, and I thought about them all, my heart might break in two." The story showed she felt no hope for herself but life turned around.

Book evaluation #3

Based on the book I think the author, Cherie Currie is a very successful person especially because of what she went through with her drug addictions and family issues. Although she had all of those problems in her life as the lead singer of The Runaways she still managed to get out of her addictions and accomplish all that she wanted. The band may have split up and she may have had drug problems but she is an inspiring woman.

Book evaluation #2

From blogs and articles about this book the authors purpose was to express. That is because she gives detail on what happened to her life from the amount of drugs she took and what being in a band did to her. Although most would think this book is just about how The Runaways broke up it's really about Cherie's struggles in life during and after the band.

Book evaluation #1

I chose the book Neon Angel by Cherie Currie because The book is based off of one of my favorite bands, The Runaways. That isn't the only reason of course, I find that the band's back round story as to how they became famous to be very interesting. Adding to that one of my favorite things in the entire world is music especially rock and roll. This all girl band was truly inspiring to me and I wanted to know more about them. This book was a perfect choice and I thought it would be highly interesting. I was right!
